On Tuesday February 25th Terrence Punch will be launching his new book Montbelaird Immigration to Nova Scotia, 1749-1752. This work traces the genealogy of the immigrants from Montbelaird, a small state of the Holy Roman Empire which was swallowed up in 1793 by the expansion of France. Before this the people of Montebelaird had been among the throngs of "Foreign Protestants" who were brought to the fledgling colony of Halifax when the English settlers proved largely unsuited and uncommitted. The citizens of Montbelaird made up approximately one-sixth of the 2,500 Foreign Protestants and left a significant mark on our heritage.
The book launch is set for 7 pm at the Halifax Public Library. The book is priced at $22.00.
