RNSHS Lecture: Transformation and Triumphalism: The Irish Catholics of Halifax in the Mid-Nineteenth Century

On this Wednesday the 21st the Royal Nova Scotia Historical Society will be holding their Annual General Meeting followed by a lecture by Dr. Terrance Murphy. The meeting will begin at the regular time of 7:30pm at the Nova Scotia Archives and will be followed by the lecture itself. This lecture will look at the significant cultural contribution of the Catholic population of Halifax during the 19th century, particularly through the latter half when institutional growth and strengthening coincided with a boom in Irish immigration which saw one third of the town of Halifax be of Irish decent in this period.

More information on this lecture may be found on the the RNSHS website.
